These past weeks have been all about Change, Confusion, and Clarity. Just when I was beginning to think that I had a scheduled routine and rhythm to my days, life turned me upside down and gave me new challenges to work through. Retirement is a word that was tossed around for the past several years. I knew that it was on the horizon, but when it actually arrived, it changed my world completely.
Who would have guessed that we would enjoy this new path as much as we are?! Not me!! Every day I surprise myself with the total Joy of finding myself living in the moment. It is a new concept that has been preached before. But it really is freeing to accept the adventure of life as it unfolds before my eyes. I just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Much the same activity as the studio/ artist adventure that I have been on for these past several years. Now the concept has expanded to include my daily life. I start out with a rough plan for the day. A goal list of sorts. But then I am open to whatever happens. Spontaneity is key. It's as if I have a plan in place, but the Universe tells me, 'that's nice, but we have this adventure for you today, Kasia.' So I attempt to go with the flow. The result is nothing short of amazing! Actually miraculous at times!!
After all the uncomfortable confusion about what retirement was going to look like for us, we headed south to the warmer climate of Florida and entered the communication stage. This phase was spent in lots of dreaming about the possibilities. And conversations about how to make the dreams a reality. I felt like a newlywed (after 43 years with the same man), as we compromised on the needs and desires of our hearts for what the rest of our lives will look like. With the conversations came CLARITY. We agreed that we needed a plan with a purpose, some private time, and some together time. Then we decided that to be really comfortable, we needed to stay in this warmer climate and each needed some space in our home to realize our individual dreams. For me, that meant a studio room where I could work on projects undisturbed. That led us on a house hunt for the perfect nest to shelter our bodies, minds, and spirits in the coming years. (More details on the house in a future post.)
Do you ever count your blessings and then watch in amazement as new blessings come your way? I mean, it is thrilling, exciting, miraculous, and awesome!
Spring brings the new birth and fresh start. A new lease on life. If you are open to the changes and the adventure, clarity does come. And my friend, I think that you will agree that the Godwinks are absolutely amazing!! Welcome CHANGE.
