Past, Present, Future

Dear One ~

As an artist, one learns that letting go of the past is crucial to the future success of the present work. One must realize that past failures in the form of:

  • missed deadlines
  • lost submission opportunities
  • ideas the never materialized

all have a way of blocking the flow of creativity. When we learn to let go of the anxiety and guilt, the blockages disappear. The Muse is allowed to show up and the creativity can once again flow through the artist and out into the world.

Entering the studio, we must clear our minds of the past and concentrate on the energy of the present moment. In this moment are the seeds of creativity that will be brought forward into the dream of a future art piece being birthed and exhibited.

For myself, working with an end purpose in mind, while letting go of the expectation of how the finished piece will look, gives me the freedom to play with the Muse and allow the miracle of creativity to reveal itself.

As Mike Dooley says, "Thoughts are things. . . choose the good ones!"

When we stay centered in the present moment, the future has a way of taking care of itself.

Until next time ~

This website is awesome!! I've seen many pieces of your work at formal exhibits and impromptu "Show 'n Tell" sessions with family and friends - - - but viewing all of your work in one place provides a tremendous opportunity for reflection. How proud I am to call you my sister - and my creative inspiration! Love, Chris
