Dear One ~
This was a week of false starts, creative problem solving, - - - more day dreaming and envisioning the final outcome - - - before there was a break into submission of "letting go" to the MUSE. I currently have two deadlines for new works. The annual American Quilt Society's Group Challenge that MArQ (Milwaukee Art Quilters) submits to each year, has the theme 'The Blues' and the FAC (Fiber Artists Coalition) is submitting new works for an exhibit entitled 'Milagros'. Both venues evoke a certain amount of anxiety to be putting my best effort forward (which is always my intention). Being juried into an exhibit always seems to bring out the EGO for more tempering and silencing.
I find myself now working on both pieces simultaneously. Something that I rarely do. My usual style is to create a piece from start to finish. The false starts and changing my mind so many times on the Blues piece has now put me into panic mode with the deadline less than two weeks away. From this vantage point, I am forced to stop thinking so hard. Get my ego out of the way, and just let go to the creative flow which has a mind of its own. The surprise came yesterday, when I showed the works in progress to Casey for some kind critique. After a few very helpful suggestions, she deemed it my best work to date. WOW! . . . We'll see.
It's time to get back into the studio now, as we have a free weekend at home and my guy is happily clearing his chaos and regrouping his life which frees me to spend my time with my passion. Next time, I'll share the photos of the work in progress with you. I am curious, what would you do if you were forced to 'Let go and Just Do? Care to share your thoughts?
Until next time ~ Just do it!
