Dear One -
You may recall, that for several years a favorite gift idea for 'mom' was to add a building to the Alpine Christmas Village collection. As the collection grew, it became a challenge to find the perfect spot to display them.
Last year, I decided that the Baker's Rack in the kitchen was a good place to enjoy their soft lights at night. Our little ones can easily enjoy looking at the tiny houses and figurines while they are safely out of reach of their little hands.
Before: Even though we carefully wrapped the white cords around the back spokes, they were a distraction to my eyes. Hmmm, what could we do to hide the electrical cords?
After: This year, with the help of my friend Bonnie at the UPS store, we created a winter mountain scene background and the little village seems to have come alive. I set it up for Thanksgiving Day to start out the season of 'decking the halls'. It's the first decoration to go up and will be the last to come down in January, defining the season. I love this little village. It stirs childhood memories of a favorite story of Heidi and her grandfather. It also reminds me of our family in Germany, of family heritage and roots, of old fashioned days gone by. Isn't that what this season of Love is all about? What do you think of the 'before' and 'after'? Do you have a favorite decorating tradition? Care to share?
Please take time to enjoy the blessings of this season ~ the memories and traditions that make this time of year so special in so many ways.
Until next time ~ Live your Light!
