Dear One -
Thanksgiving Day celebrations start a chain of family traditions that color this Christmas season in our home. This is a happy time of Love and sharing as long as I keep my stress levels down and practice what I have learned: to go with the flow. I tend to paint a picture of holiday expectations in my mind. Do you find yourself doing the same?
In years past, I would make a wish for PERFECTION, a Martha Stewart extravaganza, only to be greatly disappointed with the results of my shortcomings which left me feeling quite down. With experience comes wisdom and I have learned to make a general plan of the feeling or mood that I want to create in my home. I then suggest to our family members how the plan might work out and attempt to step back and allow it to unfold as it will. I am usually pleasantly surprised at how things evolve as the season unfolds and am rarely disappointed at the final outcome. I try not to make great demands that might set myself up for disappointment. Ultimately, my family gathers together for a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings and we eat, drink, laugh, and play the day away centered around the nap schedule of the grandchildren. The hosting home may change from year to year, but the outcome is the same - the family gathers together to say a prayer of THANKS for our many blessings and we gratefully share our time and talents with each other.
How do you spend your day? What could you do to make it easier on yourself and more FUN? Care to share your thoughts?
Until next time ~ Live your Light!
