This week I've been watching the Olympics with new eyes. The opening ceremonies showed amazing creativity, technology, and BRAVERY on the part of the little girl who took flight like Peter Pan. The costumes, colors, and dancing were eye candy for my creative soul.
I get emotional watching these athletes who have prepared their bodies and minds for years to compete for what comes down to a matter of minutes. For them, it can mean supreme exhilaration or heart aching defeat. The competition is so great. Not all are simply happy to be competing.
As an artist, I realize that I have been perfecting my techniques and finding my voice for years as well. Now the question is: do I need to be a rich and famous artist? Or will I be happy simply to be creating my art?
Going for the GOLD, but just pleased with myself that I trained and showed up for the games. Hmmmm.
